Who we are

Terrace Shores is a humble community of believers on beautiful Green Lake, Wisconsin. For over 70 years we have testified the works of God in our lives, striving to uphold our lives both presently and now online. To preserve the sanctity of human dignity, we are committed to the farthest reaches of privacy, confidentiality, sanctity, respect, and more, all in the name of the love of our Lord Jesus.

“TLDR”: And to put simply, we…

  • Will not sell your data. Ever. This website is for our community and there will be wolves trying to access. We are trying to preserve. “Listen carefully: I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; so be wise as serpents, and innocent as doves” ~ Matthew 10:17
  • Will not allow your data to be leaked. This is an honest attempt forthwith, but understand whatever data you provide, digitally, is forever vulnerable. We have sourced reputable third-party apps, partners, and have Josiah (current PK) on standby and mechanic to guard. Note even as website admins, if you donate online (thus provide your CC) or create a Directory account, we cannot see your personal info (e.g. credit card #, password), ever. Nor will we let others (I Corinthians 2:11).
  • (If you join our Newsletter or Directory (which requires regular attendance or Membership class), will send (fun, exciting!) regular church email updates but will never spam, or exploit nor try to sell anything to you. Your soul matters to us, not your wallet (Matthew 6:24)

The main website address is: https://www.terraceshores.com, also accessible by https://www.terraceshores.org. Both route to the same location, and our main contact email is either admin@terraceshores.org or admin@terraceshores.com.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments & Contact Forms

When visitors leave comments or form submissions on the site we collect the data shown in the database (also meant to trigger our emails and respond), and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Directory & Donation Profiles

If you donate or create a Directory account, you will need to provide personal information about yourself. Your emails and passwords are converted into anonymized strings (also called a hash) which link to an account on the website. You can request to have these accounts deleted, or access your data anytime by logging in through the Contact or Donate drop-downs in the menu.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

Google Analytics (GA4) is used to assess overall website visit trends, but we do not (nor are able to) do anything “special” with our website traffic data. Absolutely none of your TS website data or behavior will be shared with anyone, and is used to have a sense of website health and concern.

Final Points

So note: we do not store any financial (e.g. credit card) information. If donating online we use a third-party processor (GiveWP) which provides a dedicated support team to secure (hash) and maintain your trusted information. Thus, if the TS website is ever compromised, your payment info will not be.

Your Data

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on Terrace Shores, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service, but otherwise, absolutely nothing. Visitors who opt to join the newsletter have their name and emails sent to MailChimp API, which has its own double-authentication to avoid spam.

Data Storage and Management

Donations (GiveWP): When donors contribute through our site, we collect personal information such as names, email addresses, and donation amounts. Payment processing is handled by third-party gateways; we do not store credit card information on our servers. Donor data is securely stored within our WordPress database and managed via GiveWP’s donor database system. This data is used solely for donation tracking, communication, and generating fundraising reports.

Membership Directory (ARMember): For users registered in our online church directory, we collect information including names, email addresses, and other profile details. This data is stored securely within our WordPress database and managed through the ARMember plugin. Users can access, update, or delete their personal information at any time.

Security and Backups: We employ Wordfence for website security, which may collect IP addresses and other data to protect against malicious activity. Our website data, including backups, is securely stored using BlogVault’s encrypted cloud storage solutions. These backups include site files and databases to ensure data integrity and facilitate recovery in case of data loss.

Additional information

We are committed to transparency and will update this policy as needed to reflect changes in our practices or legal obligations. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

How we protect your data

We implement security measures such as SSL encryption, regular software updates, and secure server configurations. Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel only. We also utilize security plugins like Wordfence and backup solutions like BlogVault to safeguard our website.

What data breach procedures we have in place

In the event of a data breach, we will promptly notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by law. Our response plan includes identifying the breach, containing it, assessing the impact, and implementing measures to prevent future occurrences.

What third parties we receive data from

We may receive data from third-party services such as payment processors (e.g. PayPal) and marketing providers (e.g. MailChimp). These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage users to review them.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

We do not engage in automated decision-making or profiling that significantly affects users. Any data analysis performed is for internal purposes, such as improving website functionality and user experience.

Industry regulatory disclosure requirements

We comply with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Users have rights regarding their personal data, such as access, correction, and deletion, which can be exercised by contacting us.
